Desert Hot Springs Furbee Aquatics Center renovations to start in September

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif (KESQ) - Renovations are being delayed for the John H. Furbee Aquatics Center in Desert Hot Springs.

On Tuesday, the City Council rejected all bids from contractors for the needed upgrades, and pushed forward the Center's re-design construction dates to span from September 2025 to February 2026.

City officials say this new timeline for construction will allow Desert Hot Springs High School's swim teams to resume their regular season practices, as well as give the general public access to the pool during the summer.

Desert Hot Springs Assistant City Manager Daniel Porras says the pool will be completely closed September through February during renovations, then they'll open it for the swim teams. After that time, the plan is to be open year round to all residents.

The John H. Furbee Aquatics Center, located at 11750 Cholla Drive in Desert Hot Springs, will reopen for the summer season on Saturday, May 24, 2025 and close Saturday, August 30, 2025.

See the City of Desert Hot Springs website at cityofdhs.org/john-h-furbee-aquatics-center/ for more information on the Center's hours, swim schedules and admission fees.
