Palm Springs breaks record on Sunday as the weather stays very warm through Veterans Day

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – I hope you've all enjoyed a very warm Pride weekend in Palm Springs! Widespread warmth across Southern California continues through Veterans Day before the heat begins to break.

We hit a record in Palm Springs today!! The airport registered at 95°F, beating out a previous record of 94°F from 1956. This comes after nine consecutive days this month being significantly warmer than usual.

Tomorrow, expect pretty similar conditions to today. It should be a tick cooler than today's record-setting 95. though still quite warm. Highs should remain in the low to mid 90s for most desert cities.

Changes are on the way, though. Take a look at our temperature outlook, which shows us what we can expect in about a week's time. For the past few weeks, we've been seeing a lot of warm colors, indicating above average temperatures. Right now, we're starting to see some deep blue... which means we could be seeing temperatures far below average.

Again, we stay warm through Veterans Day, but we'll usher in the 80s through the middle of week as high pressure begins to weaken. Then, a system bringing windier and wetter weather to SoCal could drop our temperatures into the 70s by Friday.

The exact timing and rain chances remain unclear, but our best shot appears to be late Thursday and Friday for now. Stay with us for the latest as we monitor these changes!
