Tracking Santa Ana winds and cool temperatures

Good evening. It is cool and breezy today here on the valley floor as an offshore wind/Santa Ana wind setup takes hold. Highs are only in the low 70s today, partly thanks to the winds. Low pressure will dip down over our area tomorrow, causing highs to reach their lowest point of the week. The winds will still be prevalent, but will gradually ease through Friday. High pressure will move in starting Friday. This will bring a warming trend to the region.

The winds are mainly coming from the north/northeast. This means they are coming from over the high desert. Winds in this type of set up are strongest in the higher elevations. Thursday will be mostly calm on the valley floor, but will see lingering breezes. The same trend continues into Friday.

Thursday will be the coolest day of the week.

Keep an eye out for the "Cold Moon", our final Super Moon of 2025 Thursday evening.

Highs will rise beginning Friday. The warming trend continues into next week, as highs climb into the mid-80s. That puts us more than 10 degrees above the seasonal average.
