CVUSD completes mold remediation and independent clearance verification at elementary school

THERMAL, Calif. (KESQ) - Coachella Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) officials said they have completed mold remediation and independent post-remediation verification at John Kelley Elementary School. It comes after testing confirmed positive mold findings in two classrooms.

Officials said that following confirmation of mold in two classrooms, CVUSD engaged SERVPRO, a licensed and experienced environmental remediation company, to perform remediation in accordance with the scope of work outlined by an Safeguard EnviroGroup, a certified environmental testing firm.

All remediation activities were completed prior to verification.

Following completion of remediation, Safeguard EnviroGroup conducted a Post Mold Remediation
Verification (PRV). Based on visual and olfactory inspections, field data, and laboratory analysis
where applicable, the designated work areas passed established clearance criteria.

All reports are now available for public review on the CVUSD website at www.cvusd.us under the Maintenance & Operations Department page. The reports include: Post Mold Remediation Verification (PRV), Limited Asbestos and Lead-Based Paint Survey, and Limited Contamination
Assessment - Airborne and Surface Fungal Structures.
