Firebirds defeat Canucks 3-2 behind Logan Morrison’s OT winner

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) - The Coachella Valley Firebirds defeated the Abbotsford Canucks 3-2 on Saturday night at Acrisure Arena.

The Firebirds opened the scoring in the first period. Mitchell Stephens found the back of the net for the fifth time this season for the 1-0 lead.

After Ben Berard's first goal for the Canucks, Andrei Loshko buried his first goal of the season and lifted Coachella Valley to a 2-1 lead.

Berard scored his second goal of the season to even up the game at two late in the final period.

In overtime, Logan Morrison scored the golden goal only two minutes and 25 seconds into the extra period.

Nikke Kokko started in net for CV and saved 34 shots on goal.

The Firebirds improve to a 15-8-4 record on the season. Coachella Valley will head on the road and play the Henderson Silver Knights on Sunday, December 28th. Puck drop is at 5 PM.
