Firebirds fall 7-3 to Condors on New Year’s Eve
THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) - The Coachella Valley Firebirds fell to the Bakersfield Condors 7-3 on New Year's Eve at Acrisure Arena.
The Condors scored three unanswered goals before the Firebirds got on the board. Andrei Loshko netted his second goal of the year to trail 3-1 in the middle frame.
Bakersfield got its three-goal lead right back to close out the second.
To open the third period, Jani Nyman, in his first game back with the Firebirds, sniped in his first goal of the season to cut the deficit to two.
The Condors answered right back, but Coachella Valley had a response.
Lleyton Roed ripped one into the back of the net and placed the birds within two.
Bakersfield added another pair of goals after Roed's goal to seal a 7-3 final.
Nikke Kokko started in net for CV and saved 28 shots on goal.
The Firebirds fall to a 15-10-4 record on the season. Coachella Valley will head on the road and play the San Diego Gulls on Friday, January 2nd. Puck drop is at 7 PM.
