Firebirds fall 5-1 to Silver Knights for second straight loss

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) - The Coachella Valley Firebirds lost to the Henderson Silver Knights 5-1 on Wednesday at Acrisure Arena.

The Silver Knight went on a two-goal run in the opener from Ben Hemmerling and Tanner Laczynski.

Henderson continued to hold the Firebirds scoreless in the middle frame and scored their third goal by Jonas Rondbjerg.

The Silver Knights continued to dominate at the start of the third. Sloan Stanick netted his first goal of the season for the commanding four-goal lead.

Logan Morrison helped the Firebirds get on the board five minutes into the final frame, but the silver and black extended their lead right back to four. Laczynski buried his second goal of the night to hand the Firebirds the 5-1 loss.

Nikke Kokko started in net for CV and saved 26 shots on goal.

The Firebirds fall to a 16-12-4 record on the season. Coachella Valley will remain at home and play the Henderson Silver Knights on Saturday, January 10th. Puck drop is at 6:00 PM.
