Cooler weather is on the way

Spencer Blum

It's a gorgeous afternoon here in the desert with sunny skies and fair conditions. That makes this evening perfect for watching the Super Bowl! Temperatures will continue to cool off throughout the rest of the evening, but due to the above-average afternoon highs, temperatures will not drop that much. We should expect early morning low temperatures in the mid-50s, likely the low-50s in the east valley.

Looking ahead to the next few days, we have some changes in the forecast. Early in the workweek, we will begin to see an increase in cloud cover over the valley's skies. This is preceding a system moving set to move through the Golden State. Temperatures will finally fall back into the 70s with the arrival of this system. This system will bring a very slight chance of precipitation to the desert, but there will be little to no accumulation. Looking ahead to the following week, we are starting to see some signals of another, potentially more impactful system moving into Southern California. However, this is still quite a ways away, so the details are very hazy and should be taken with a considerable grain of salt.

Temperatures will stay warm for tomorrow, with some clouds potentially beginning to move in during the afternoon/evening hours. The following days will be cooler and cloudier. More sun will make an appearance again by Thursday.
