Extreme heat through next week, slightly drier

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) — The Extreme Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service will remain in effect through Aug. 28 at 8 p.m.

Today, highs will be in the low 110s, around 113 degrees.

Thankfully, dew points have dried out slightly over the last 24 to 28 hours, though they are still elevated in the 50s. Forecasts do not show an increase in moisture through this week. This should help make conditions more comfortable during the excessive heat warning.

Try to complete morning activities before 10 to 11 a.m., before temperatures reach the triple digits. At noon, temperatures will be around 108 degrees.

Looking ahead, temperatures will remain in the 110s, which is slightly above seasonal averages for this time of year. However, drier conditions could allow for improved radiation cooling, which should help overnight lows start to become slightly cooler.
