Chances for monsoonal activity set to return Monday as extreme heat continues

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – We're seeing a little bit of everything as we look ahead to the start of the workweek. It all comes on the heels of a very hot and slightly drier weekend in the Coachella Valley.

For the remainder of your Sunday, dew point temperatures look to stay in the 40s and 50s, which has been a pleasant change for us.

The break from the moisture doesn't last long, though. Our FutureTrack hour-by-hour models are showing a big boost of moisture by Monday morning. 60°F to 70°F dew points aren't out of the question.

Pair the extra moisture with the heat and some added instability and we see some chances for monsoonal storms Monday afternoon. We'll be keeping a close eye on these sporadic systems, but right now, the best chances for scattered T-storms look to be in the afternoon, as per usual.

Temperatures could back off slightly due to the extra moisture on Monday. Highs look to be "cooler," but it'll likely feel hotter than it is as the humidity increases our heat index, or "feels-like" temps.

As high pressure re-expands Tuesday and beyond, we're likely to see temperatures rebound. We're looking at fairly consistent highs closer to 113-115°F for Tuesday through Friday, which represents the remainder of our Extreme Heat Warning.
