Inside the Win: Desert Christian Academy’s offense continues to conquer in Week 5

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – The Desert Christian Academy Conquerors continue to live up to their mascot after another dominant win in Week 5. The Conquerors defeated the Cathedral City Lions 61-12 to wrap up non-league play.

While people may say the Conquerors success comes from an "easy" non-league schedule, you cannot ignore the powerful offense DCA has created.

The Conquerors have outscored their opponents 286 to 25 in five games, and average just over 57 points per game. Part of this success comes from sophomore quarterback Mario Gallo, who continues to shine on the field. Against the Lions, Gallo went 12-for-15, with five touchdowns and 219 total yards.

"I think Mario played a great game," Ernie Arreola, Conquerors offensive coordinator, said. "He threw for about five...touchdown passes. I mean, you can't take that away from him."

While Gallo stood out, he also has strong running back and receiving groups to connect with. One of the Conquerors top receivers is Gallo's brother, Eusebio Gallo. Among other players who continue to reach the endzone, are Preston Martinez, Nathdaniel Guerrero, Judah Garrison and Jayvon Garcia.

"All glory to God, and I'm grateful that we have an amazing coaching staff, that they did what they did and put in the work," Eusebio Gallo said after Friday night's win.

Desert Christian Academy will head into a bye week before starting league play. They moved into the Mesquite league this season, and Arreola said they're ready to go.
