COD hosts first game in new stadium; falls 57-16 to San Bernardino Valley

PALM DESERT, Calif. (KESQ) – College of the Desert football is finally back home on campus, after unveiling their new stadium. While, the official opening is set for the Roadrunners homecoming game Oct. 3, they hosted their first game on the new field on Saturday.

Unfortunately for COD, San Bernardino Valley came out strong in this game. The Wolverines offense was fast, especially their running backs. With the speed, and capitalizing on turned over Roadrunner drives, the Wolverines went up 37-10 by half.

By the second half, College of the Desert couldn't keep up with San Bernardino. The Wolverines ultimately took this game 57-16, winning the 39th COD-SBVC Challenge Trophy Game.

The Roadrunners have a bye week before returning to their new stadium Oct. 3 against Los Angeles Valley College. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Stay with News Channel 3 for continuing coverage.
