COACHELLA, Calif. (KESQ) - A 26-year-old school employee is in custody after allegations of sexually assaulting a student at a Coachella school.

Brittny Jaramillo, 26, was arrested Thursday following a traffic stop in the area of Varner Road and Adams Street in Indio.

Jaramillo's arrest stems from a report on Oct. 8 of inappropriate contact between a school employee and a student at a school in the 52000 block of Frederick Street in Coachella, the Riverside County Sheriff's Office announced.

Due to the nature of the investigation, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office - Special Victims Unit was contacted and immediately assumed the investigation.

Investigators served a search warrant at a residence in the 38000 block of Rancho Los Cerritos in Indio shortly after Jaramillo's arrest.

Jaramillo was subsequently transported and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center. She faces charges of digital penetration and additional child sexual abuse charges. There is no word on when she is scheduled to be arraigned.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing. Details on what school Jaramillo worked at or her role were not available.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office - Special Victims Unit believes there may be additional victims and encourages anyone with information regarding this investigation to contact Investigator J. Lee at (951) 955–1718 or Sheriff’s Dispatch by calling 951–776–1099.
