Warm for Greater Palm Springs Pride as winds die down

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – It's a BUSY weekend in Palm Springs! Thousands are in town for Greater Palm Springs Pride. Even though highs are running a few degrees above average, we're in for some pretty comfortable conditions!

Our pattern that fueled some weak to moderate Santa Ana winds across Southern California will continue fading into Sunday. The pressure gradient was the tightest Saturday morning – which resulted in the peak of our winds – but will continue to weaken. We were in the 30-40 MPH range along our desert slopes and passes this morning.

Wind gusts don't look too impressive tonight, which is great news for everyone out there celebrating pride!

Temperatures should stay fairly comfortable through the night, but an extra layer isn't a bad idea if you get cold easily. We'll drop into the 60s starting around 10 or 11 o'clock tonight. As for Sunday, we'll be in the low 80s as the parade steps off in Palm Springs. Highs are expected in the upper 80s, so be sure to hydrate. It's not as hot as last year, but temperatures are still running 6-7°F above average!

We stay about 6-7°F above average through Veterans Day before a cooling trend begins. We're watching a system that could arrive next weekend. We expect a cooldown, but impacts beyond that are uncertain, especially the possibility of rain. Stay tuned!
