Desert Christian Academy sweeps Rancho Mirage for CIF-SS Division 9 title

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (KESQ) – The Desert Christian Academy Conquerors have earned the CIF Southern Section Division 9 Championship title in a 3-0 sweep over Rancho Mirage on Saturday.

The Conquerors have had a great season, finishing at 17-7 overall and 10-4 in the South Valley League. This CIF-SS championship title is the sixth in program history for the Conquerors and one they've been preparing to earn this season.

"The girls have worked really, really hard all season," Conquerors head coach Ashley Cullen-Carroll said. "We're super, super proud of them and just give all the glory to God for all their skills and talents."

DCA had some hard-fought points against Rancho Mirage in the championship game. For junior middle hitter Lucy Johnson, the win is a testament to just how close this team is on the court.

"We knew exactly what we needed to do and when to do it. We did an amazing job picking up our energy. When it was low, we came out with energy," Johnson said. "We just compliment each other so well, and honestly, without them, I couldn't have done this because we just work so well as a team."
