Slightly cooler but windy to close the week

The low pressure system that arrived in Southern California early this morning is moving across the state bringing light precipitation to the mountains and High Desert.

Here's a look at some of the strongest gusts across the desert as of 11:00 p.m.:

Gusty winds will continue to be felt across the desert through the night. 30-40 MPH gusts can be expected along the interstate with stronger gusts around Whitewater.

Windy conditions will be felt around the Coachella Valley on Saturday as well, weakening by Sunday.

If you've been wanting a warm-up, just wait until the middle of next week. That's when temperatures will soar into the 90s across the desert.
