Fire hydrant crash floods Palm Desert Stater Bros parking lot
A vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant causing water to shoot out of the hydrant and the parking lot at Stater Bros. to flood.
The accident happened near Varner Road and Washington Street in Palm Desert shortly before 12:30 p.m. Water gushed out of the hydrant for about 30 minutes.
A CHP officer told News Channel 3 at the scene that a motorhome struck the fire hydrant. Officers are still investigating how this ended up happening.
The hydrant caused some collateral damage in the area. There were no injuries reported but the clean up is expected to take a couple of hours.
