Bighorn BAM kicks off the holiday season on El Paseo

PALM DESERT, Calif - The famous El Paseo shopping district turned into a winter wonderland for the 12th annual "A Miracle on El Paseo," on Saturday, November 23rd, 2019 from 5 to 9 p.m. The festive evening is hosted by The Shops on El Paseo, the Coachella Valley's premier luxury shopping and dining destination, and benefits BIGHORN Behind A Miracle (BAM).

Guests invited to kick off the holiday season with street dancers, carolers and other live entertainment, a five-story Ferris wheel, a designer fashion show, family-fun activities including Santa's Village and ornament making, an interactive snow globe perfect for photo ops, and over 20 of the Valley's top restaurants and vendors offering tastings, all included in one ticket price. 

The Shops on El Paseo owner Fred Fern, Palm Desert Mayor Susan Marie Weber, BIGHORN BAM founder Selby Dunham, and BAM chair Debbie Aarthun and co-chair Cathy Johnson have the honors of officially lighting the 60-foot El Paseo Christmas tree. KESQ's Haley Clawson was the tree lighting announcer.

Christmas music, holiday cheer, festive attire all the elements to turn El Paseo into a winter wonderland. The festive event not only bringing locals together but tourists as well.

For the past decade, the Triezenberg family has traveled all the way from Chicago for what has become a family tradition.

"So since they were younger they have been going on the ferris wheel and now that they are older, they still love it," said David Triezenberg.

The parents still remember the memories from previous years on El Paseo.

"Now we have graduated from infancy to adulthood," said Triezenberg.

The event benefiting BIGHORN BAM, a valley organization which provides financial support for cancer patients and for research.

Some of the vendors spoke about their participation in the event including CEO of DRINGK Eatery Bar, Kurt Gardner.

"I think cancer is a conversation that people have. It's affected my family personally so at DRINKGK Eatery Bar we make a real effort to get out and participate in raising funds," said Gardner.
