Coachella Valley catwalk: Behind the scenes at Fashion Week El Paseo

Fashion Week El Paseo may be the “largest consumer fashion show on the West Coast,” but tonight, the show takes a positively local focus. Eight local shops will be featured in the evening’s event, including Johnny Was.

“It’s nice to get our brand out there more,” said Jeanette Carlos, Assistant Manager at Johnny Was. “Because a lot of people know about us, but they don’t know how colorful it is – the embroidery, the brightness, but we’re definitely so super excited to be a part of this for the first time.”

It’s a large and welcome stage for the local shops and there’s reason to believe that Fashion Week El Paseo will only get larger.

“Slowly it has grown from 2 thousand people to 20 thousand,” says Raju Mehta, General Manager at El Paseo Jewelers, the title sponsor. ” 20 thousand people will come this year so it’s a big fashion week and I think people need to support that.”
