Brush fire near Desert Hot Springs sends plume of smoke into the air

Cal Fire made quick work of a small fire that sent a plume of smoke into the air near Desert Hot Springs on Friday afternoon.

The fire ignited in some brush near a home on Cottonwood Drive and 20th Avenue around 1:15 p.m. A reporter on scene said that wood pallets, and a fence also caught on fire but no structures were threatened.

We received several calls from viewers stating they saw a large black plume of smoke coming from the area. No word on what caused the fire at this time.
