UPDATE: Man arrested for murder after death investigation in Thermal

Saul Mayoral, a 50-year-old who lived near where the body was identified as a suspect in the death investigation, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department confirmed.

As a result of their investigation, Mayoral has now been arrested for murder and was transported to the Indio Jail, where he is currently held on $1,000,000 bail. The victim’s identity is being withheld until his family is notified.

A suspicious death investigation is underway in Thermal, according to Deputy Mike Vazquez of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. At 7:20 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies were flagged down by a man who said he found a possible dead body on the 87800 block of Avenue 52.

Authorities have shut down Fillmore Street at Avenue 52, according to Riverside County transportation officials.

Deputies arrived on the scene and found the body of a man. The death is considered to be suspicious. No further information about the investigation has been released at this time. The investigation scene is still active.
