Thermal man arrested for auto thefts

A Thermal man was facing charges of possession of stolen property after Riverside County Sheriffs Deputies say they found six stolen cars at a property on the 66000 block of Martinez Road in Thermal.

A release from the department said deputies contacted Malcom Morreo, 37, Friday afternoon while investigating reports of a stolen vehicle at a Martinez Road property. Deputies say they then discovered additional stolen vehicles, and called in the Riverside Auto-theft Interdiction Detail (R.A.I.D.), a multi-agency task force, to assume the investigation.

A search warrant turned up a stolen 2008 Suzuki street bike and two mini-bikes stolen during a recent residential burglary in Coachella. The Sheriffs Department said a total of six stolen vehicles were recovered from the property.

Morreo was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio where he remained Monday morning on $40,000 bail. Jail records indicate Morreo’s first name spelled, “Malcolm.”

He was facing felony charges of receiving stolen property, also unrelated misdemeanor charges of driving on a suspended license and child neglect. Morreo was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

Should anyone have any additional information about this case, please contact Deputy Grasso at 951-955-2770.
