Speakers take aim at gender inequality at ANA Conference
The 3rd annual ANA Inspiring Women in Sports Conference is a forum for change, and the packed speaker lineup was sure to make their voices heard.
“You have all these women from different arenas.” said Julie Foudy, an Olympic Gold medalist, author, and the conference moderator. “From Wall street to Hollywood to sports stars to Olympians and they’re all sharing these really personal stories about obstacles they have to overcome.”
One of the foremost leaders of the Me Too movement, Ashley Judd, was the day’s keynote speaker and spoke to the impact that she hopes her role as a silence breaker could play in enacting larger change.
“Isn’t that what we’re looking for? A more dignified and respectful society and interactions that feel good and positive…the change, It was pan-political and pan-social and we were seeing it in every sector.”
In addition to Judd and Foudy, the conference included two-time Olympic gold medalist and FIFA Women’s World Cup champion Carli Lloyd, Ellevest CEO and co-founder Sallie Krawcheck, Olympic gold medalists Jocelyne Lamoureux- Davidson and Monique Lamoureux-Morando of the U.S. Women’s Hockey Team and Olympic bronze medalist fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad.
