Motorcyclist severely injured in crash outside Anza

A motorcyclist struck by a sedan suffered major injuries Sunday on the back country road between the Coachella Valley and San Diego County, about three miles east of Anza.

The crash was reported at 12:25 p.m. at the intersection of Kenworthy Bautista Road and State Route 74, in front of the Paradise Valley Cafe, the CHP said.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to a hospital, according to an employee of the restaurant.

Highway 74 was closed at Highway 371 but has since reopened.
