Residents complain about vacation rental home owned by Goldenvoice

Some La Quinta residents are raising concerns over a nearby vacation rental property owned by Goldenvoice.

Kim Hyde lives directly behind the Goldenvoice-owned “Platinium Estates. She says she called police three times with noise complaints Saturday night but the music just continued.

“I think the city has a 10 o’ clock curfew with noise. If the police go there after 10, they should be able to say ‘you guys, stop it. Turn it off or take it indoors’ and it didn’t stop. It didn’t stop until I called one of the Goldenvoice representatives at 11:00 then it stopped,” Hyde said.

Hyde says it’s not the first time she’s been kept up at night by loud noises coming from the Platinum Estates. During Coachella weekend one, she filed complaints with the city of La Quinta.

La Quinta City Manager Frank Spevacek says the Platinum Estates were fined $1,300 for six different violations, some doubled.

“I am for vacation rentals. I’m not against them. I’m not against the concerts. They bring a lot of money into the valley. However, I do think you do have to have management on top of this stuff,” Spevacek said. “The thing with vacation rentals is they need to understand when they rent in the valley, they need to respect peoples’ property and they need to respect the people who live here.”

Spevacek said no citations or fines have been issued for Saturday’s noise complaints which are under investigation.

City officials said they are working to ensure these violations do not occur. We got a similar response from them last month when Hyde first filed her complaints.

We also reached out to Goldenvoice and have yet to hear back.
