Multiple traffic collisions block lanes on westbound 10 freeway, SIG alert issued

Lanes are blocked on the westbound 10 freeway as hay fell out of a semi-truck causing oncoming vehicles to crash into it Saturday morning. The crash happened just east of the Washington Street exit. The California Highway Patrol received the call just after 6:30 a.m.

CHP reports at least one person was transported hospital. At least two cars are involved in the crash. The semi-truck pulled over into the right hand shoulder. The number one and two and three lanes were blocked as crews work to clear the hay and debris off the road. The number two and three lanes were reopened at around 7:43 a.m. by Caltrans.

Caltrans issued a SIG alert for this crash.

A second crash on the westbound 10 freeway by the Jefferson Street exit involved three vehicles and is blocking the number one lane. One person in this crash was transported to the hospital.

Anticipate delays as traffic backs up. No word on when the lanes will reopen.
