United Airlines announces new direct flight from Palm Springs to Newark, New Jersey
United Airlines announced today that its seasonal service out of Palm Springs International Airport will now include direct flights to Newark, New Jersey.
The move is part of a major expansion of destinations out of the airline’s East Coast hubs in New York/Newark and Washington-Dulles, which included replacing the connections between Palm Springs and Newark with direct flights.
From Dec. 19 though March 30, 2019, one flight a day will be offered on a 119-seat Airbus 319, which will depart from Palm Springs in the evening and arrive in Newark in the early morning. Typically, flights between Palm Springs and Newark can only be completed through a connection, but United expanded service out of New York/Newark to 15 destinations, as well as adding the Palm Springs flight and a nonstop seasonal flight to Key West, Florida.
“We approached these schedule adjustments with our customers in mind, knowing that we wanted to create a schedule that offers customers beginning their travel in the New York City area convenient flights to many of the business and leisure destinations they frequent the most,” said Ankit Gupta, United’s Domestic Network vice president.
City Manager David Ready called the flight addition “a great compliment” to Palm Springs as a destination.
“The city of Palm Springs is delighted that United Airlines continues to recognize the desire for more flights to and from Palm Springs to the East Coast,” he said.
