Two major booking companies backing no on Measure C group

The battle over short-term vacation rentals in Palm Springs is turning into a big money fight.

News Channel 3 has uncovered big donations by two major booking companies.

Expedia donated $200,000 to the “We Love Palm Springs – No on Measure C” campaign. The committee to expand the middle class, supported by Airbnb donated $100,000.

As of April 21, the “No on C” group had raised nearly $360,000. Now that number is in the neighborhood of $700,000.

Measure C is on the June ballot and would severely limit vacation rentals in Palm Springs. KESQ & CBS Local 2 will be going in-depth on the debate over Measure C this Friday at 6 p.m. on KESQ and 5:30 p.m. on CBS Local 2.
