Fallen lawmen & women around the county remembered in Riverside
Law enforcement killed in the line of duty were remembered in downtown Riverside Monday night.
Representatives from agencies across the region including Cathedral City Police Chief Travis Walker and Palm Springs police Chief Brian Reyes along with local elected officials attended the 35th annual Riverside County Peace Officers’ Memorial ceremony.
“We have to pay homage to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our communities. We can never forget their memories or the sacrifices they’ve made and even more so we can’t forget their families. their families have to endure these tragedies until the end of time,” Walker said.
The multi-agency ceremony was held next to the safe in his arms statue which bears the names of 64 peace officers killed in the line of duty. The ceremony included a tribute to fallen officers, a helicopter flyover, a 21 gun salute, and flag ceremony.
The fallen include two Cathedral City police officers and four palm springs police officers. The list of names goes back to 1895.
