Cause of last week’s fire at College of the Desert revealed
Officials reveal the cause of the fire at College of the Desert last Tuesday night.
Last week, a fire destroyed a room inside the Early Childhood Education Building at COD. Firefighters were able to douse the fire after a little over an hour and successfully kept it from spreading to other areas.
According to Cal Fire, the damage was caused by an electrical fire that originated at the electrical outlet where the dryer and other appliances were connected. Multiple breakers were tripped.
The building will be closed for the foreseeable future, according to a COD press release. The main McCarthy Child Development Center was reopened last Thursday to help serve displaced students.
