Gerald Ford Elementary School students raise money for “Desi Strong Foundation”
Some elementary students have raised hundreds of dollars for the “Desi Strong Foundation” and they did it with an arcade style “claw machine.”
The students at Gerald Ford Elementary in Indian Wells are paying it forward to a foundation that bares the name of Desi Cechin. She passed away from cancer at the age of 6 in 2016.

One student knew the foundation raised money for children and he wanted to do his part along with the help of his friends, so he built an arcade of sorts and during lunch charged students to play “the claw.”

“We got like a claw and we got like string and we tied it around the claw and you have to move it around, and see if you can picking it up. and you have 20 seconds to grab. and if you do, you win,” said Daxton Westlake, one of the students who raised money for the foundation.

The boys raised $317, and along with donations from staff, they were able to donate $500 to the foundation.
