Big rig overturns on Interstate 10

Police and firefighters were on the scene of a big rig rollover in the east valley Tuesday morning.

The California Highway Patrol said a driver in a silver Ford Edge collided with the big truck at 6:28 a.m. westbound on Interstate 10 just east of Dillon Road.

Nobody in the small car was injured, but CHP Officer Jackie Quintero said the truck’s driver suffered minor to moderate head injuries.

Both westbound freeway lanes were blocked for a short time, but traffic was moving again with only one lane closed down.

Eastbound traffic lanes were not impacted by the collision.

A crew was headed to the crash scene to unload the large truck of its cargo. The slow lane was expected to be closed to traffic for several hours.
