Local leaders visit firefighters at Cranston Fire

Local leaders visited the firefighters battling the Cranston Fire near Idyllwild to get a first-hand account of the fire.

Tribal Chairman of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Jeff Grubbe. Congressman Raul Ruiz, Senator Jeff Stone were among the many in attendance of Friday morning’s briefing giving the latest updates on the Cranston Fire, which grew overnight from 7,500-acres to 11,500-acres.

“Seeing all these different departments help out. They have taken control of a very dangerous fire and prevention the loss of life and the loss of structures,” Stone told KESQ & CBS Local 2 at the briefing.

“My initial thought is how volatile this fire can be and how rapidly it spread, and how dangerous it can be for the men and women who are out here putting this fire out,” Congressman Ruiz said.
