Two arrested after falling asleep intoxicated with a child in the back seat
La Quinta police arrest a man and woman arrested for being under the influence and child endangerment.
Jeremiah Fraser, age 31, and Karina Townsend, age 31, both from Yucca Valley, were arrested in the parking lot of the Walmart on Friday evening.
According to a news release by the La Quinta Police Department, deputies received reports of Fraser and Townsend sleeping inside their vehicle with Townsend’s 5-year-old son in the back seat. Fraser was allegedly found to be in possession of heroin and under the influence. Townsend was found to be under the influence of alcohol.
The news release also mentions that Fraser and Townsend fell asleep due to their intoxication.
Fraser was arrested for being under the influence and child endangerment. Townsend was arrested for child endangerment. Child Protective Services was notified and took custody of the child. They have both been booked into Riverside County Jail in Indio and are both being held on $35,000 bail.
