Pools at Four Seasons once again tests positive for Legionnaires’

The pool at the Four Seasons, 55+ community in Palm Springs, was supposed to be back open this month after testing positive for Legionnaires’ Disease in June. However, the pool will now remain closed after testing positive for Legionnaires’ again.

A letter sent out to residents revealed that 6 of the 11 areas that tested positive back have tested positive again. Four Seasons now plans on having the pipes replaced and conduct hypothermal flushing.

According to health experts, Legionnaires’ disease is a deadly bacterial lung infection and can be transmitted when people breathe droplets of bacteria-infected water. People 50 and older are at a higher risk of catching the disease. Residents of the community said that back in January, two people used the pools and got infected with Legionnaires’.

The Center for Disease Control was notified by county public health in June and the pools have been closed ever since. The pools were expected to be back open sometime this month but with this latest positive test, the earliest the pool area can be retested is August 21.
