Driver extricated from daytime DUI crash, police say

A driver had to be extricated from a vehicle after a suspected alcohol-related accident in broad daylight, the Cathedral City Police Department said.

The crash happened around 1:00 Sunday afternoon on Vista Chino near Landau. The CCPD said a black pick-up truck was the only vehicle involved, and that it had rolled over onto the shoulder. Upon arrival, members of the Cathedral City Fire Department had to extricate the driver from the vehicle.

An ensuing investigation found the driver was under the influence, said the CCPD. The driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
