Small business ‘iHUB’ seeks Palm Desert city approval

A small business incubator could be coming to Palm Desert.

An ‘iHUB’ — a center that provides programs, services, and incentives to start-up businesses — is on the agenda for this week’s Palm Desert City Council meeting. A $175,000 contract has been proposed with the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership, the organization that would manage the new iHUB,

This would not be the first of its type in the Coachella Valley — the Palm Springs iHUB already exists.

According to the city council agenda, a five-year contract with CVEP is recommended, funded for the 2018-2019 fiscal year in the amount of $175,000 to establish, operate and manage the Palm Desert iHUB. The agenda says the funds are available in the Economic Development Department Budget.

Jake Ingrassia has much more on this story coming tonight on KESQ News Channel 3 at 5 p.m. and on CBS Local 2 at 5:30 p.m.
