Pedestrian in serious condition after traffic collision
A pedestrian struck by a vehicle late Wednesday night remained in serious but stable condition Thursday afternoon, according to a tweet from the Indio police department.
Roads closed after the unidentified person was hit at around 10 p.m. near the intersection of Jefferson Street and Miles Avenue. The northbound lanes of Jefferson were closed at Miles for several hours.

Drugs and or alcohol are not being considered as factors in the crash, according to police.
Although no details were released regarding possible jaywalking, police did issue a warning to people to cross in crosswalks.
