Early morning fire damages three vehicles in Desert Hot Springs

CAL FIRE investigators are looking into an early morning fire Wednesday that damaged three cars in Desert Hot Springs.

Firefighters were called to the 13000 lock of Ocotillo Road, just south of Hacienda, around 2 a.m. When crews arrived, they found three vehicles on fire, in a carport. CAL FIRE says they contained the blaze within 30 minutes. Damage also spread to the carport.

The owner of one of the burned vehicles said he couldn’t believe something like this could happen.

“Honestly, I barely got the car. It was a gift so I got it like two months ago from my grandfather, a brand new Mustang and here we are, it caught on fire, so it sucks,” Daniel Soto, whose Mustang was damaged, said.

CAL FIRE said there were no injuries reported and the fire’s cause remains under investigation.
