Locals gather for rally protesting Judge Brett Kavanaugh
Tomorrow, the FBI report on the sexual assault and misconduct allegations made against Judge Brett Kavanaugh will be made available to Senators. Today, valley residents who believe his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, gathered in Palm Springs to show their support for her and other sexual assault victims.

The gathering was apart of a nationwide movement joining called “Stop Kavanaugh” vigil.

“We actually need the voices of women but we need the voices of everyone cheering and we need men especially to come out and say it’s not normal to rape people, it’s not normal to assault people, and it’s not normal and we do not accept that,” said Palm Springs councilmember Christy Holstege.

Some local attendees took the time to share their stories about sexual assault.
“I’m a survivor of 55 years ago being attacked in college,” said Amalia Deaztlan, a Palm Springs resident. “I was sexually abused and later when I revealed that, it’s not that my family didn’t believe me, they believed me, they didn’t think it mattered and they didn’t care.”
Opponents of Kavanaugh sent those in Washington D.C. a message.
“I think that President Trump and what he said was a disgrace and it made me more empowered and I’m a survivor and I think we need to have our voices heard as men and women who are survivors,” said Palm Springs resident Lisa Schoenberg.

Palm Spring city councilmembers Holstege and Lisa Middleton urged people to get involved in the November elections.
“It is time to repair our country and there is one thing we can do here, we need to vote,” Middleton said.
“We need to vote. We need to support candidates who are running who represent our values. We need to make sure our friends are voting,” Holstege said.
The report will be made available to Senators tomorrow, Senate majority leader Mitch McConnel will set a vote for Friday on Kavanaugh.
