Morongo Valley man arrested after carrying 2-year-old in middle of traffic

Morongo Valley man arrested after allegedly carrying a two-year-old in the middle of the street.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, yesterday at around 8:34 a.m., deputies received a call that a man with no shirt or shoes was carrying a child in the middle of the Twentynine Palms Highway in heavy traffic.

Deputies found the man, identified 43-year-old Jason Wallace, was under the influence of a controlled substance.

The news release adds that the child was safely taken from Wallace. Child and Family Services was contacted and the child was released to a family member.

Wallace was arrested for child cruelty and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, bail $100,000.
