Alleged DUI driver crashes in Palm Desert

PALM DESERT, Calif. – A suspected drunken driver crashed his car into a fence in Palm Desert and was arrested, sheriff’s officials said today.

The crash was reported at 2:30 a.m. Saturday at Monterey Avenue and Parkview Drive, in front of the College of the Desert campus, said Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Marcus Abbe.

Jason Hackett, 23, of Palm Desert had been driving north on Monterey Avenue when he veered off the road and collided with a fence, Abbe said.

After being medically cleared, he was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and booked into the Indio Jail.

Hackett was later released on $3,500 bail.
