Police close roads after deadly collision

Police closed Date Palm Drive near Tacheva Drive following a deadly early morning traffic collision.

The Police Department said a single vehicle crashed and rolled over in the northbound lanes at 2:04 a.m. Tuesday.

A 46-year-old woman was a passenger and died at the scene.

Police had not yet released her name.

Officers said the man who was driving the car, was rushed to a hospital with minor injuries.

He was also suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The continuing investigation had closed the northbound lanes of Date Palm Drive from 30th Street to Tacheva Drive.

One southbound lane of Date Palm Drive was also shut down.

Motorists were urged to use an alternate route to avoid the area if possible or expect extra traffic.
