Boy stabbed in Coachella
A boy has been hospitalized after being stabbed in Coachella.
According to Deputy Robyn Flores of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, they received reports of an assault near the intersection of Calle Empalme & Avenue 52 shortly after 2:35 p.m. Deputy Flores confirmed the boy was stabbed with an unknown object. A Coachella Valley Unified School District official told KESQ & CBS Local 2 that they could only confirm that someone was stabbed in that area, but could not comment if he was a student.
The Sheriff’s Department confirmed the boy was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The boy’s parents weren’t with him at the time, but they have since been found and notified.
Police searched the area for two male juvenile suspects; however, they were not located.
The Coachella Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance if they have any information on the incident or in identifying the two suspects, please contact the Thermal Sheriff’s Station at 760-863-8990.
