I-10 eastbound back up to speed after morning delays

UPDATE as of 7:25 a.m.: Interstate 10 eastbound traffic was back up to speed without traffic delays.

———–

Original Story:

Road construction was again backing up eastbound Interstate 10 traffic just east of Washington Street in Indio Thursday morning.

Two of the freeway’s three eastbound lanes were closed at the Jefferson Street Interchange as Caltrans crews work on concrete repairs.

The eastbound exit and on-ramps at Jefferson were also closed to traffic.

Eastbound freeway traffic was backed up for nearly a mile toward Washington Street.

Westbound traffic was not being impacted by the road work.

Take an alternate route to avoid this slowdown if you can.

Eastbound and westbound Interstate 10 traffic was also backed up through Palm Desert and Indio Thursday morning due to the same Caltrans construction and four freeway collisions between Cook Street and Washington Street.

A SigAlert was issued at 8:17 a.m. for both east and westbound Interstate 10 at Washington Street in Palm Desert and Indio due to numerous traffic collisions and stopped traffic.

Eastbound traffic was backed up for approximately four miles from just east of Cook Street to the Jefferson Street Interchange in Indio.

A collision was also reported Monday in Caltrans construction traffic back up on Interstate 10 east of Washington Street.
