Convicted child molester arrested crossing Calexico border
Previously deported convicted sex offender after illegally crossing the border in Calexico.
Mexican national Eliseo Orozco-Mansilla, 39, was among three arrested about 20 miles west of the Calexico Port of Entry. According to El Centro Sector Border Patrol, agents observed three individuals running north of the border fence.
Agents determined that the group had entered the country illegally and arrested the group.
While at the El Centro station, agents ran record checks on the group. It revealed that Orozco-Mansilla was convicted in 2002 in Spokane, Washington for child molestation. Orozco-Mansilla was sentenced to 6 months in jail and 12 months supervised release. He was previously deported in March of 2002.
Orozco-Mansilla will face removal proceedings.
“Protecting our nation’s borders and keeping our communities safe is often one in the same,” said Chief Patrol Agent Gloria I. Chavez. “Arrests like these send a clear message that we will keep our communities safe and will prosecute criminals who have committed felonies in the United States.”
In the fiscal year 2019 which started on October 1, El Centro agents have arrested and removed three convicted sex offenders attempting to enter the United States illegally.
