More than 140,000 people expected to visit Coachella Valley for annual Pride Festival

The annual Greater Palm Springs Pride Festival is in full swing downtown.

The event is expected to attract over 140,000 people to the Coachella Valley over the course of four days, featuring activities, music, vendors, food and drink stations. Visitors travel from all over the country to take part in the celebration and say it means so much to see the community’s support.

“This is just iconic of what we stand for as a community. There’s a lot of divisiveness and division right now. So just to come together and celebrate who we are, what we stand for…I think it means a lot and it really is a beacon of hope for everyone in our community,” said John Vogan, who traveled from Seattle for Palm Springs Pride weekend.

“It’s heartwarming and inspirational. I think that it’s been challenging the last couple months the last couple years…for obvious reasons…and it’s nice to see everyone come together and celebrate instead of be negative,” said Tim Raines, a local Pride festival-goer.

This is the 32nd anniversary for the Greater Palm Springs Pride Festival. This year’s theme is “Youth Power for Change.” The festival continues through Sunday, November 4th, with multiple block parties and a parade downtown.
