Student Athlete of the Week – Aaron Perez

The Indio Rajah boys cross country team is one of the best that we have seen in a long time and their goal has been set.

“The goal for our team this year is to place on the podium at State. To not only make it but place there,” Aaron Perez said.

For senior Aaron Perez the sport has not only changed his athletic life.

“Never really did any other sports. When I did I wasn’t the best at them but running kind of showed the best of me. That is what I do now,” Perez said.

Also the confidence in everyday life.

“Be who you are. Show yourself. When I meet someone new I am pretty quiet but once I get to know the person I am outgoing. I like to stand out in front of the crowd,” Perez said.

He has stood out to college coaches and on the college level the race increases from 3-miles to 10K. Perez is even better the longer he goes.

“It is more his thing he has this aerobic power that just keeps moving. The longer the race goes the longer he excels,” Noah Perez said.

Right now it is Adams State in Colorado and Cal State Northridge the favorite to land Perez. Wherever he does he is also going to be chasing his other dream.

“Possibly in biology, engineering, or something to do with nursing in the future,” Perez said.
