Active shooting outside Thousand Oaks bar

Eleven people, including a deputy, have been wounded following a shooting at a bar in Thousand Oaks late Wednesday night.

Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said there’s no update on the conditions of those injured. They confirmed the area where the shooting took place has been secured.

The identity of the suspect or the whereabouts of the gunman haven’t been released. Deputies told reports at the scene that they feel comfortable that there is no threat to the public.

The Ventura County Fire Department said firefighters were responding to an active shooting just after midnight Thursday morning.

The Associated Press reported that at least 30 shots were fired in the Thousand Oaks bar and multiple people were injured. The extent of the injuries haven’t been released this morning.

The Ventura County Fire Department public information officer said in a tweet that the area should be avoided due to heavy police activity.

The Borderline Bar and Grill is located off the 101 freeway on Moorpark Road. That’s about two and a half hours west of the Coachella Valley and 40 miles west of Los Angeles.
