List of local Veterans Day events

People all over the United States will gather on November 11 pay tribute to the brave men and women have served or are continuing to serve our country. Below is a list of Veterans Day celebrations being held locally.

Forest Lawn–Cathedral City Fourth Annual Veterans Day Celebration In an exciting and patriotic concert event featuring a selection of talent from across the desert, Forest Lawn–Cathedral City will present its fourth annual Veterans Day celebration on Sunday, November 11, at 2:00 PM. During the free event, emcee and CBS Local 2’s Evening Anchor Brooke Beare will spotlight performances by the Palm Springs High School Orchestra, McCallum Theater Open Call Champion Cecelia Stewart, and Cathedral City High School’s Lion’s Pride Chamber Singers. As the desert segment of Forest Lawn’s 59th annual Veterans Day celebration, which spans three parks, the concert gives the community an opportunity to honor the brave women and men of the United States Armed Forces.

22nd Annual City of Palm Springs Veterans Day Parade Thousands of spectators are expected in downtown on Sunday, Nov. 11 for the 22nd Annual City of Palm Springs Veterans Day Parade, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in downtown Palm Springs. The parade kicks off on Palm Canyon Drive at Ramon Road and heads north concluding at Alejo Road. Immediately following the parade, the Palm Springs High School Spirit of the Sands Band will perform a post-parade patriotic concert on the corner of Palm Canyon and Amado Road. The concert concludes with a fireworks finale.

This year’s theme is “Honoring All Who Served.” The City of Palm Springs proudly announces that once again, the Veterans Day National Committee of the Department of Veterans Affairs has designated the City of Palm Springs as a Regional Site for the observance of Veterans Day. Palm Springs is one of
approximately 60 events nationwide to receive this important designation.

Palm Desert ceremony at Civic Center Park Palm Desert will honor the sacrifices of those who have served in the United States’ military and recognize the dedication of those who continue to serve our nation with a free Veterans Day celebration at Civic Center Park Sunday at 11 a.m.

This year’s event will feature a keynote speech from Lieutenant Colonel Joel Schmidt, executive officer of the 7th Marines, the United States Marine Corps regiment that has been adopted by the City of Palm Desert. The day’s highlights will also include a patriotic concert performed by the Heatwave Boys and Girls Club Jazz Band. Limited seating will be provided at the park’s amphitheater. Attendees are also invited to bring blankets and portable chairs to enjoy the program in comfort. Alcoholic beverages and smoking are prohibited.

Indian Wells Annual Veterans Day Ceremony The City of Indian Wells will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, November 12, 2018. The approximately one-hour tribute will take place starting at 10 a.m. under the white tent at the City’s Eisenhower Walk of Honor outside Indian Wells City Hall, 44-950 Eldorado Drive (at Highway 111) in Indian Wells.

Program highlights will include a keynote speaker Col. Arthur J. Willis, United States Air Force, Rabii Moshe Katz of Chabad La Quinta will deliver the Invocation and Benediction and a musical performance Mission Veterans Guitar Program from Desert Recreation District. The ceremony will include the unveiling of names of Indian Wells veterans newly inscribed on the tribute wall of the Eisenhower Walk of Honor.

Veterans, their families and friends valley wide, as well as the general public are invited to attend. This event is free and no reservations are needed. Parking is available on Eldorado Drive.
